The Butterfly Effect project aims to highlight the value of handicraft. Most of the techniques used in this project are linked directly or indirectly to patchwork - not commercial patchwork kits and programmable longarm quilting machines, but rather the direct skill of the hands to create objects from scraps. In a world manipulated into accepting artificial intelligence and information technology, the aim of this project is to celebrate the power of human contact, the value of community, handicraft and thrift. This is not dissimilar, I suppose, to the belief of the Arts & Crafts Movement where Head, Hand & Heart were the keywords. HEAD for creativity and imagination. HAND for skill and craft. HEART for honesty and love.
