Strelitzia – Deconstructed

Donna Ogunnaike (Nigeria)

1 January 1970

An interactive, nostalgic journey of self: exploring our journeys as humans, childhood joys, what burdens we may carry and the joys of letting them go in order to re-define memory. Told through lyrical dialogue, interactive audience-led songs, poems and curated storytelling from entries into the virtual diary of life.

A theatrical exploration of memory, identity and catharsis. The piece immerses audiences in a multi-sensory journey through five symbolic compartments, each evoking personal and collective history. Guided by the Light Bearer, participants confront emotional burdens, engage with historical imagery and experience poetic storytelling.
