Printmaking Workshop

29 May 2026

The workshop will focus on creating images using accessible printing techniques.

This will involve a drypoint technique on clear printing acetate. It is a really accessible printing technique that enables tracing of multiple images through the plate, using any pointed implement. The image can be built up or very simple, and there can be the addition of found papers such as letters, maps, brown paper etc. The act of scratching the image into the plate, it in itself, meditative, but also, the process of inking and wiping.

As with last year, the emphasis will be 'a grassroots' approach to printing that is accessible to anyone. Opening up making art to those who are unfamiliar with 'making' things. Or who feel that they just can't because they aren't 'arty' or life has just got in the way. Consequently the materials will be easily assembled at home with the minimal of expense.

The aim of both events will be to open up the idea that the making process can be incredibly meditative and mindful. Something that many of my participants have commented on. The aim is not to make beautiful or accomplished art, but to concentrate on the process and the joy of being engrossed in making something with your hands. The outcome is often a pleasant surprise!

Specifically but not exclusively for adults and teens. It is not a children's workshop but children of participating adults will be accommodated for.
