Free drop-in community workshops celebrating female makers, designers and inventors. Looking at the work of great women inventors and designers through history such as:
Ann Makosinki – who invented a revolutionary flashlight powered by heat from the hand instead of batteries
Josephine Cochrane – inventor of the first dishwasher
Mary Anderson – inventor of the world’s first windscreen wiper
Zaha Hadid – renowned architect acclaimed for her radical designs including the London Aquatic Centre for the 2012 Olympics
Mary Quant – internationally famous fashion designer
These family-friendly workshops will encourage children to create their own inventions inspired by great women inventors and designers. Alternatively, children can re-interpret these inventions in their own way using a variety of materials.
