Fancy Goods is an exhibition by Scarborough textile artist Hayley Mills-Styles, inspired by the playful seafront souvenir shops. Drawing on vivid coastal colour palettes, the work transforms familiar holiday ephemera into carefully-crafted textile objects. Embroidered souvenirs, decorative collector’s plates and arcade-style treasures reference British tourist culture and nostalgia.
Combining painting, embroidery and beadwork, Hayley elevates ornamental objects into tactile artworks that celebrate kitsch, memory and place. The exhibition captures moments of leisure, longing and delight found along Britain’s promenades and arcades during summer holidays.
