Come and create a stained glass style image in front of one of the mezzanine level windows in the Market. This is a community project for all ages, to be done as drop in workshops.

The final design of the window will be developed during the workshops but the image will potentially be something like a Christmas tree with Scarborough and market themed decorations.

The ‘stained glass’ will be created using black paper and coloured cellophane. During the day the light will show through from outside and the piece will be lit from inside at night-time, so it will be visible outside the building.

Due to the delicate windows, the image will be mounted on a perspex screen, which stands in front of the window rather than stuck directly onto it. Participants will be able to create their own elements to add to the ‘window’ and alongside that, and with the same materials make small stained glass style decorations to take home or leave to decorate the market.

The project starts with a design session where we collect ideas using templates of the distinctive window shape and Christmas decoration shapes.
